Lagundo Canal Trail

Hiking excursion departing from the hotel

We don’t usually like to brag. But when it comes to the location of our hotel, we just can’t stop raving about it, because it really is in an amazing setting. For example, there are lots of lovely walks you can do in a day, starting straight from our front door!
They include: the Lagundo Canal Trail (with splendid viewpoints), the Apple Trail (an unique experience at blossom time!), the Wine Trail (including lots of useful information), the Tyrol Castle excursion, and the Scenic route to Merano, the famous spa resort

Hikes to a mountain hut

Hikes to a mountain hut

What about some lovely views of mountains and valleys - combined with some lovely food? Nothing could be easier!
The hikes up to our local “malgas” are the stuff of dreams: crisp alpine air, meadows filled with flowers and herbs and a truly idyllic setting. Our insider tips: the Zirmtal mountain hut in the Venosta Valley (with a small lake and the scent of pines); the Schusterhüttl cottage in Val d’Ultimo (a real gem, and off the beaten track), and the Niederhof hotel restaurant near Tel (not one of the true “malgas”, but certainly their equal for natural beauty and culinary pleasure ...).

Wandergebiete

Hiking areas

Keen hikers and nature-lovers with find plenty of variety around Tirolo and the tourist region of Merano. There are four different hiking areas, all worth exploring:
the Monte Hirzer hiking area (with easy paths, but also the steeper ascent to Picco Ivigna); the Merano 2000 hiking area (with 100 kilometres of trails); Alta Muta (the starting point for hiking to the lovely Sopranes Lakes, and other sights), and Monte San Vigilio (a “car-free” natural paradise).

Fires of the Sacred Heart

Fires of the Sacred Heart

Fires of the Sacred Heart

When you see lots of bonfires burning in the meadows and mountains around Tirolo, you’ll know it’s a special day of celebration: Sacred Heart Sunday. The tradition of mountain fires dates back to the Sacred Heart Oath of 1796, when the Tyrolean Diet decided to ask God for help in resisting the invasion of French and Bavarian troops. Fires were lit to give thanks for the victory, and the tradition of the Sacred Heart fires has continued in many parts of the region ever since (in June).

Mythical places

There are some very tranquil spots in and around Tirolo. They are places that help restore your inner calm and equilibrium ...
Enjoy the silence| “Herrschaftsweg” (Sovereignty Path): you reach a point on the edge of the Tirolo forest with amazing views of the Adige Valley.
Admire the landscape | a front row seat on Monte San Benedetto: about 10 minutes’ walk from the Lisetta you come to a lovely view over Merano.
Counting the stars | Tyrol Castle at Night: there’s a small platform with benches near the castle, where you can sit and gaze at the night sky ...

Summer, sunshine - what more could you want? Hmm... what about a delicious homemade ice cream? You should definitely try the ice cream at our Leitenschenke restaurant (maybe after a pleasant stroll along the Marlengo irrigation canal path), or else at Gelateria Sabine in Merano (a bit hidden away near the Merano Thermal Baths).

A visit to a trendy bar, wine bar or club is an important part of any holiday. There are plenty to choose from, so where should you go? Our tips: the Köhln Keller in Tirolo, a restaurant-tavern in a rustic style; or the Raffl Club in Merano, a small but very popular nightclub, which serves excellent drinks.

Sightseeing

Sightseeing in the spa town of Merano

The best way to explore Merano is without a set itinerary. It’s better to just wander, because there’s so much to see at every corner: stroll under the historic arcades, climb the Powder Tower, walk along the Tappeiner Promenade (the oldest cultural “promenade” in Europe!), admire the flowers in the botanical gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle, and just enjoy the “dolce vita” among the mountains and palm trees.

Raffeiners Orchideenwelt

Raffeiners orchid world

There’s a surprising place in the middle of Gargazzone: 12,000 plants, including 500 different types of orchids, thrive in an area of over 6,000 m². The greenhouse was designed as a tropical jungle and houses not only flowers, but also animals: butterflies, parrots, turtles and exotic fish are all as content here as the colourful plants.

Friday market

Friday market in Merano

Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, delicious dairy products, hams and sausages, and all produced by local or regional farmers. The colourful market stalls are a place for locals as well as tourists to meet, chat and do their shopping. Clothing, shoes, household items and flowers are also on sale here every Friday.

Luxury in harmony with nature

The Lisetta exceeds all expectations. The professional welcome and attractive hotel décor are matched by the great friendliness, which we encountered everywhere. It’s exactly what we hoped for! There was also the “green” aspect, with honey produced on-site by their own bees, eggs from free-range hens and herbs from their own vegetable plot! It’s right in line with current trends, a successful compromise between luxury and sustainability. So, an ideal holiday for body and spirit, which also helps appease one’s conscience! :)

Impeccable service

We were welcomed with great kindness, the rooms were very clean and well looked after, the outside facilities were managed by the senior host with lots of care and attention. The breakfast and dinner were exceptional, Gabor and Gaby provided a really professional service.
