Schloss Rametz Winery
Languidly lying on the side of a moraine hill, formed by the soile drained during the last glaciation, the Schloss Rametz winery is sheltered from the north by the massif of the Texel Group, that, with its peaks more than 3,000 meters high, protects the area from the cold northern winds.
This privileged position fosters the wine cultivation, that has been registered here at least since 1227. In compliance with this ancient tradition, the current owners of the estate prohibit the use of cement poles for the construction of pergolas.
On these vineyards being cultivated thanks to the numerous terracings, such privileged vines as Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Suavignon grow.
Wines aging in barrels, housed in two cellars dating back to the 18th and the 12th centuries. The estate, in addition to wine production, also has a small wine museum where they organize visits and tastings.
