Our Meringerhof farm at Lagundo

Home cooking is the best

„I’m going to be a farmer when I grow up”, said Markus as a child.
He was completely fascinated by farming, and everything that went with it. He kept his dream alive over the years, and never became discouraged - quite the contrary! The Meringerhof farm at Lagundo/Rablà was purchased in 2001, and Markus built it up all by himself, transforming it into a splendid apple-growing concern. But that’s not the end of the story …

Meringerhof

When love bears fruit …

Markus met Sieglinde and fell madly in love with her. And Sieglinde also fell in love with Markus and the farming life. They made the joint decision to diversify at the Meringerhof and make it a truly special place. They planted more fruit varieties, brought in some animals, and then their son Lukas was born.

A lot has happened in the meantime. Pigs, calves, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cats and Gina the dog have all come to live at the Meringerhof. The farm has its own butcher’s shop with a butcher: the speck, smoked salami and country-style salami are all home-made.

But there’s more. A whole variety of other things are produced at the Meringerhof:

  • Eggs
  • Alpine cheese
  • Jams (strawberry, apricot, blueberry, raspberry)
  • Syrups (raspberry, blackcurrant, elderberry)
  • Juices (apple juice, pear juice)
  • Vinegar (apple cider vinegar, balsamic apple cider vinegar)
  • Honey (apple honey, mountain honey)
  • Wine (Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet)
  • Grappa
  • Apple chips
  • Olive oil
Vegetables

Like father, like son

Lukas also intends to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a farmer, and is already providing valuable help. Every two weeks, the farm organises a guided tour with tastings (free for guests at the Lisetta). Markus and Lukas show guests around the farm, the orchard and the small collection of livestock. After their visit, guests can indulge in some of Sieglinde’s delicious treats.
